And dukes desiring landed titles outside their De jure duchies (not sure about this, i might have given them something outside what i had intended). I'm not sure what to expect since it can't be related to the dukes i give it to since they didn't change accordingly to who i gave it to. The duke of beja had Badajoz in it's "blue borders" and the duke of Badajoz had only badajoz in light blue. Sadly, other wasn't so easy to understand. Leon was my main title though, so not to worried about the effects it had. Leon changed shape and size (the blue borders, not the actual map mode) throughout the game multiple times as i took land. I was expecting it to show de jure countys, but alas it's showing something weird. I always thought i had to many vassals and it also explains why i thought some of my dukes were growing all to powerful for comfortīut yea, it's when i grant a duchy.

Okay, i hadn't thought about the transfer vassalge option and that sounds like it.

But he will be happy with having them as vassals, he doesn't need to hold them directly. I certainly believe that a duke will only want counties and baronies within his de jure borders (well that and maybe the king title), presumably if he holds another county he will want that counties barronies as well. Not sure I'm understanding you correctly. Probably means it can go to anyone without a title or something, not just a vassal of the current holder (since a barony doesn't have vassals). I assume 'open elective' is the succesion law of the city. Yes, AFAIK any mixing of barony types will give you a problem, but I think you can grant anything to any landless person and they will become the right type. maybe if it was your only duke title it would highlight all your vassals, since they would be transferred if you gave it away? If it isn't when you are granting a duchy, maybe it is showing de facto holdings? this is when you are going to grant a duchy? I thought that always displayed de jure lands. If you make a vassal mayor or bishop in the barony in question, then use the transfer vassalage option, that should satisfy the duke without giving a negative modifier.
